Rejoice in Hope: And then there was him

I don't know how many people still read this blog after I rather abruptly abandoned it in January, but at Lauren's behest I thought I would update...and let you know that I am going to give this blogging thing another try over at My Humblebee Home. I hope to see you there!

Timeline

June 17, 2005: N asks me to marry him, and I joyfully say yes.

June 17, 2006: We are married in my home parish.

February 2007: I learn that one of the side effects of the birth control pill is preventing implantation of the embryo. Horrified, I stop taking BCP immediately. We begin practicing NFP, which reveals many abnormalities in my cycles.

Easter 2007: N is baptized and confirmed in the Catholic church.

2007-2009: I wait, sometimes patiently, for N to be ready to have children.

June 2009: He is ready! I conceive almost as soon as the words are out of his mouth. Life is beautiful.

July 15, 2009: I miscarry at six weeks and five days, just three days after we had started sharing the news with our families.

January 2010: I finally conceive again, at a time when it should not have been possible. We praise God, but tell no one the good news.

February 8, 2010: The doctor calls to tell me that my HcG levels are not doubling. Not even close. She tells me not to worry, but I know what is happening.

February 16, 2010, Shrove Tuesday: After more than a week of anxiety and nearly constant tears, I miscarry at seven weeks and two days.

February 23, 2010: I begin exercising three times a week, mostly to give myself something to work towards but also to get healthier for next time, if there is a next time.

March 2010: We make the decision to see a reproductive endocrinologist, even though most doctors don't consider it a medical problem until after the third miscarriage.

May 2010: After lots of blood work and other tests, Dr. S rules out all the usual suspects of repeat pregnancy loss. By all accounts I am very healthy. Then why don't I feel healthy? Why are my cycles so long and irregular? Why haven't I conceived again?

July 2010: In addition to regular exercise that I began in February, I begin implementing a healthier diet as outlined in "Fertility, Cycles, & Nutrition" by Marilyn Shannon.

October 15, 2010: Positive HPT!
